Kanjorski & the bailout 2008/09/26 09:34 Karma: 1
I read this article at Politico.com this morning...

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13954.html

...and felt like Alice just arrived in Wonderland, where everything is backwards or inside out.

I got a mailer that promised no bailouts from Kanjorski a day or so ago, and I thought, "Wow. Bad timing, because he HAS to help fix this mess, and NOT bailing out is NOT A VIABLE OPTION, no matter how much we might not like it."

Then I read this article and realized that Kanjorski could lose this election by ACTUALLY putting "country first," instead of just mouthing the words and saber-rattling like the Republican nominee for President.

Here's why I now feel like I'm living in Wonderland:

The United States of America is on the Economic Titanic.

The captain just told us that we hit an iceberg and that if we don't do something we're going to sink (into another depression, one that will be devastating to the working classes, those riding in the steerage sections of the ship).

So, the captain tells us we can save the ship by plugging the hole with money, OUR money.

We also discover that the Democrats have put guards on that money to make sure nobody misuses it.

The Republicans riding in first class don't want the ship saved with their money; they think they're going to be the ones who get to use the lifeboats, so why waste their money plugging the hole? That ALMOST makes sense from the party that's shown it's anything BUT "country first."

But that Democrats--not the brave congressmen and senators--the people in Kanjorski's district, don't realize that THEY'RE the ones being saved is incredulous to me.

They are, in effect, saying, "You should not plug that gaping hole with MY hard-earned money. I'd rather take my chances with the ice-cold bone-chilling water."

If Kanjorski is defeated because of his attempts to save our lives, it will be proof that we are indeed all living in Wonderland, a dark Wonderland of our own making.
